Parent Acts: When your children think all that you do or say isn’t right

Laura Simms, a mother of three in Atlanta who runs her own advertising firm, says her 11-year-old girl, Marlo, thinks her mother is ideal about nothing and off-base about everything and adjusts her 24 hours per day.

” ‘No, the sky isn’t blue. It’s really green.’ ‘No, it was $1.26, not $1.25, Mom.’ ‘No, we went on Friday, it wasn’t Saturday,’ ” said an exasperated Simms, transferring what her little girl may state to her. “I actually stop and say, ‘Am I ideal about anything any longer?’ And my significant other resembles, ‘No.’ “
